Diet Drinks: The Shocking Truth

No doubt about it, dieting is tough. As soon as you go start to cut back, you can't help but think about all the foods you love to eat.

This can be quite a disheartening process because we all have emotional connections to certain foods.

Often the hardest foods to cut out are the sweet treats and savory snacks that you find yourself craving, especially in times of stress.

Be it cake, cookies, chocolate, or potato chips, you have your vice, and it's hard to picture your pantry without it.

To help overcome these cravings, you might turn to diet soda instead.

Many people think this is a wise alternative since it is, after all, fat- and calorie-free. If it doesn't contain calories, it must be a good diet food - right?

Not quite.

There are many reasons why you definitely should not be drinking diet sodas and other drinks.

* The Ingredients

The very first thing that I'd like you to do is look at the label of a diet soda can and read out the ingredients to yourself.

Can you even do it?

The fact is that no one without an advanced science degree can fully pronounce the ingredients found in most diet drinks.

What does this tell you? If you can't even say what you're consuming, do you think it's going to be natural for your body to digest and process?

No way. Yet dieters continue to put these drinks into their bodies on a daily basis.

Diet drinks are entirely man-made and are going to offer absolutely zero nutritional support, unless they have been fortified with certain vitamins and minerals, which is occasionally the case.

But even then, remember that it's far better to get your nutrients from real food rather than supplementation, and despite the added nutrients, it's still not enough to offset the fact that you are literally drinking chemicals, at the very least artificial sweeteners.

* The Cravings Factor

Another interesting thing to note is that if you think drinking that diet soda is going to help calm your cravings, you may want to think again.

The fact of the matter is that diet soda can often set off stronger food cravings for sweet foods.

So if you're someone who is downing soda after soda after soda and occasionally cheats on a piece of cake or a chocolate bar, that diet soda could be what's causing you to crave it in the first place!

Consider cutting out the diet drinks and see if that desire for chocolate never returns.

When you are constantly exposing yourself to that sweet taste, you're going to want more of it.

* The Damage to Your Health

Putting chemicals into your body is bad enough, but think about all the acid that's contained in carbonated diet drinks.

This acid is slowly going to erode your bones and could put you at risk for stress fractures and osteoporosis down the road.

Plus, most diet drinks are replacing beverages like skim milk, which is one of the leading sources of calcium.

Furthermore, there are a number of reported side effects from consuming diet drinks including bloating, stomach pains, headaches and dizziness.

While you may be able to find some research stating that the artificial sweeteners found in diet drinks won't put you at harm, do you believe it's worth the risk? Just as
you can find research to say they won't, you can also find stats that say they will.

The only one who can decide what you will and won't put into your body is you.

* Smarter Options

So as you can see, diet drinks are simply not a good way to quench your thirst. The better way?

Pure water. Nothing is going to get better than this so it's the best possible replacement.

And if you get bored downing glass after glass of pure water and need more excitement, try adding a few slices of lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit or cucumber.

The fruit will provide a very light but refreshing taste and will make it that much easier to get the water down.

Or, consider brewing a pot of herbal or green tea.

These can be just as good for quenching your thirst and provide added health benefits, such as antioxidants.

The facts are clear: Diet drinks are not all that diet-friendly so you are better off finding another way to quench your thirst.

Hi, I’m Bridgette and I’m 41 years young! I’d like to share my story of how I lost 32 pounds in 29 days with RESURGE Deep Sleep and HGH Support Formula. Did you ever notice that when you’re fat, men don’t look you in the eye? They look across your shoulder. There’s no eye contact. Up until two years ago, I was never looked in the eye. By anyone. I was too tired to be a lover to my husband. I was falling asleep by 8 o’clock most evenings. When I did go out for an evening, my husband was ashamed of me. And he said so to my face. When I walked, my thighs brushed together. I couldn’t even cross my legs. I was fat. Not just “overweight.” Fat. I was 5’5 tall and weighed 205 pounds. About 18 months ago, my husband George left a “Dear Brenda” letter on my dresser. And filed for divorce. I knew that my weight was the source of my troubles so I tried 14 different diets. One by one. And I failed at all of them. The chance encounter that changed everything ...
